Labor Day RVing 2019

I have gushed over the state parks in Texas many times because we have so many (Texas is so big).  We went to one of our go-to's for a 4-night weekend.  The parks are so popular over the holidays and weekends that they book up rather quickly, and I booked this (last) site on July 1.

It came with a beautiful sunset view!

Stan the man had a 4-day weekend (I don't get it since he just went back to school on August 14??) which allowed us to set up camp on Thursday evening.   There was fishing and swimming until an unexpected T-Storm developed Friday afternoon.

The main beach is currently closed for erosion control construction, but we found this strip of beach just a short walk from our camper.

The rains subsided just in time for Stan's good buddy to join us Friday after his classes were over.  The boys pitched a tent and spent their time fishing and swimming.

I mentioned on my Instagram account that I think the boys were pretending to be Horatio Hornblower adrift at sea on the mast of a sunken ship (a couple of dead tree limbs they clung to as they crossed the cove) while Clementine learned to skips rocks.

The great outdoors is a wonderful place for the imagination!

After Saturday lunch, David took the boys back home and Clementine and I had the camper to ourselves for the rest of the weekend.  We found an old, charming Catholic Church in a nearby town for Saturday evening Mass.

On Sunday, we baked cinnamon rolls and then went for hikes, followed by a swim in the lake to cool off.

I cannot tell you how nice it is to be away from electronics (for the most part) and busy work when we take these once-a-month trips.  Life slows down and gosh! I love it!

Now that we are back into the school year, our trips are typically closer to home (usually not more than a three hour drive).  We have another one coming up in October, and the park we are staying at has been on my bucket list for some time!  I can hardly wait!

Until the next time...

Patty
