Port Aransas - Goliad : The Presidio & Mission La Bahia (TX state Park) 2017 (3)

After spending a week in Port Aransas, we headed back home stopping in Goliad on the way.  There is so much history in Goliad.  This is where Texas signed its Declaration of Independence from Mexico.  (How many of you know that Texas was its own country?)

We toured the Presidio first.

And THIS!  This alter is where the declaration was actually signed!

Then we drove up the road a bit to Mission La Bahia.

And our last stop was taking a drive by the historic (1894) courthouse and "Hangin' Tree".

We had such a nice trip!  It was so nice to get away and just be.  I loved having no news to watch, no calendar to follow, sipping on a cocktail by the pool, and watching my children head to the beach to swim and collect shells.  Until the next time...
