Excited for Pre-School - Daybook Post

Outside my window ~

Blazing heat.

But I do not complain because it's August in Texas and that's life.

We sure had a great time with home school friends  at the pool party last week.

There were 92 of us that were able to make it (that's not even half of our group)!!

We rented one of the city's facilities for a private party.  It was such a success that it was requested for next summer as well.

I am thankful for ~

* our home school group.  There are currently 37 families who are members.

* the chance to enjoy a little one in pre-school one more time.  This makes my heart very happy!

I am reading ~

* I have two chapters left in "Blessed Are  You."

From the school room ~

Pre-School this year consists of::

A few books to work in -

I purchased these pre-school books at

Along with some cutting, pasting, and coloring ~

BTW, I LOVE those Melissa and Doug crayons!!!!  I'm not getting paid to say that either.  They are triangular shaped so they won't roll off the table and your little one learns to naturally hold a pencil properly by gripping around the edges of these crayons.

There will also be loads of pretend play allowing for her imagination to grow.  :)

(Big sisters love to braid her hair!)

Right now we are warming up to the alphabet with some of our alphabet books at home.

And since "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom" is a favorite in the house, we had fun making a Chicka Chicka Boom Boom tree.

(I found the tree idea on Pinterest.)

I am praying for ~

* a successful school year

* our country

* and end to abortion

* our priests

* for all those who have asked me to pray for them

Around the house ~

We went to First Friday Mass last week as a family to kick off the school year and receive a blessing from Father.

From the kitchen ~

Delicious Coconut Cream Pie!  I ate the last piece for a snack this morning ;)

I am listening to ~

some of the big kids preparing their lunch.

Coming down the pike this week ~

 Monday-Thursday - Music camp at church in the mornings.  (Mabel and Stan actually started school a few weeks ago in order to take this entire week off to attend camp.)

Friday - Retreat planning meeting for the older three girls and myself.  (We are making a retreat with a bunch of other young ladies at a convent in October.)

Saturday - Birthday party the older girls are attending.

A final photo to share ~

On the way home from Mass yesterday, Mabel saw this like-new bike on the side of the road and a sign on it read FREE.  After double checking with the home owner, sure enough, the bike was FREE (the homeowner was moving.)

It's a Mongoose and in fantastic condition!!

 Have a great week!

  1. My mouth is watering with that pie photo. Never mind that it's just after 6 am.
    Preschool, so much fun! Many of your books are ones we've read in the pre-K years in the past and look forward to them again this year. So funny, my girls just grabbed the Star Wars ABC at the library yesterday. ;)

    Have a wonderful week and beat the heat in the AC whenever possible.

    1. Sarah, I bought if for my little guy (which seems an eternity ago) when he was in pre school. He was a Star Wars fan and I swear, it was the only way for him to memorize his ABC's! ha ha!
