Last Tuesday, the kids had their first "just for fun" archery competition and ended up doing pretty good!  Stan and Mabel have gone to archery this spring and were pretty excited to "compete".

Where my left-hander is weaker in the long range, he nailed the short range!  We were pretty excited for him :)

(His were the blue arrows.)

Miss Mabel had a hard time adjusting to using a left-handed bow.  She is right-handed but left eye dominant.

Never-the-less, she scored near the top of the list.

Miss Ester went just as a spectator but ended up shooting for fun.

For not shooting a bow in 9 months, (the last time she went bow fishing with her daddy), she also scored near the top of the pack.

The amazingly energetic homeschool mom that organized this entire archery program is pictured in the two photos on the right.  Miss Stephanie.  I cannot thank her enough for all the hard work she put into this program.

The kids are excited for next fall!  If all goes well, they are planning on forming an official team to compete.

  1. Well done, kids! Archery is kind of fun, isn't it? The kids got into it last fall when we did a homeschool archery event and then asked for a bow. I saved up some money toward one that was recommended and bought it this spring. We've had a few outings with it in the yard and it's fun watching the kids (mostly Lily) practice. Now an archery team would be the greatest! I hope it works out for your kids. You are able to give them so many great opportunities that given our geographical area, we just can't. Bummer.

  2. Fun! Nick and Abbey have taken a few lessons. They really enjoy it.

  3. What a fun event! I know my boys would have loved it. Congratulations on all doing so well!

  4. That looks like so much fun... I think I'd have to give it a try if I was watching them! I think it must be one of those "how hard can this be???" activities until you actually try it and then you realize just how hard it is!

Thanks for stopping by!
