Easter Triduum in Pictures

Holy Thursday, Mass of the Lord's Supper ::

This is my FAVORITE mass of the entire liturgical year.  How I just love the piety, reverence, music, incense, humility, prayers, music....I could go on and on.

Good Friday, Stations of the Cross ::

Fasting in between meals, no electronic entertainment between noon-3pm (the time Our Lord hung on the cross), and then meditations on the Stations of the Cross at home.

Holy Saturday, we anticipated the Resurrection of Our Lord ::

We went to visit Miss Ester's horse, Penny.  The people that own the pasture land that Penny lives on have a handful of farm animals to enjoy.

There were two baby lambs to pet, eggs to collect from some VERY busy hens, a riding lawn mower to drive around (no worries, the blade was disengaged!)

The land owners have a 12 year old daughter still at home, so the girls all enjoyed one anothers' company :)

And Miss Clementine went on her first riding lesson!

Later that evening...

After they were in bed, the Easter bunny delivered...

The Easter bunny even brought new spur straps for the horse rider ;)

Each child received a new book, a new swimsuit, and then something individual: butterfly net, swim goggles, painting hearts craft, spurs, and a Texas Rangers t-shirt...as well as a little bit of candy.

Easter Sunday, The Resurrection of The Lord, 8am Mass ::

Before & after Mass pictures...

Family pictures?  Forgetaboutit!

This is all I got, folks...

Fabulous food.

Easter egg hunt (with our neighbors).

Confetti eggs with the neighbors.

We had a wonderful Easter Triduum this year.  Feeling so blessed right now!

~ God our Father, creator of all, today is the day of Easter joy. This is the morning on which the Lord appeared to men who had begun to lose their hope and opened their eyes to what the scriptures foretold: that first he must die, and then he would rise and ascend into his Father's glorious presence. May the risen Lord breathe on our minds and open our eyes that we may know him in the breaking of bread, and follow him in his risen life. Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Wishing you Easter joy and happiness to you and your family!

  1. WOW - looks like you had a great couple of days! You always seem so organized and put together! Typically, we make a lamb shaped cake and that is our dessert on Sunday. With all the chaos of packing and getting ready to move, I made the executive decision to skip that. At dinner tonight, all the kids were morning the lamb cake...sigh...next year, right?

By the way, I love your dress! You look so springy! The family pictures are very real! :-)

    1. We love the lamb cake, too. After my FIL passed away during Holy Week last year, we found ourselves traveling on Easter Sunday, back to northern Illinois. I made the lamb cake when we got back home. I liked the low stress of that so much that I will make the lamb cake maybe next Sunday or for the Feast of the Good Shepherd.

If you have time and have recovered from moving...make one after, in your new home!

The dress. Thank you! I bought it for Easter and Miss Ester's Confirmation in May. I found it at Belk, a southern department store. Happy Easter, Heather!

  2. What wonderful celebrating!! You did well. It looks like everyone was happy (minus Easter photo time), but hey, let's keep it real, right?! Your family looks fabulous, as always. And your outfit, so springy and beautiful. Mine, wasn't so. Oh well, it's about how cute the kids look any way.
    Easter blessings to your family!

  5. Hi Patty! I love your Spring-y Easter dress! What lovely baskets too, right down to the personal touches for each child. I wouldn't be too upset about the family photo's. Easter is such a wonderful, joyful time. It's hard to pin the crew down in the midst of all that bustle and joy!
    Happy Easter to you!

  6. Your Easter Bunny is very thoughtful on selecting presents for the baskets. Your children are blessed! I love all the photos, especially the ones with your husband and you! And y'all were smart to the confetti outdoors. ;) Who can resist? One of our guests had never heard of such a thing.

  7. I love your family photos! Trust me, oh the agony they must bear for one photo. Can everyone please, pretty please just look at the camera? lol! It all looks beautiful and a wonderful way to celebrate the death and resurrection of our Lord.

And, I love the idea of bathing suits in the basket--I'm never that ahead of the game! :)
