Dancing - Deep in the Heart of Texas!

The stars at night...

Are big and bright...

Deep in the heart of Texas!

The prairie sky...

Is wide and high...

Deep in the heart of Texas!

The sage in bloom is like perfume,
Deep in the heart of Texas!
Reminds me of the one I love,
Deep in the heart of Texas!

Miss Sally attended her first homecoming dance over the weekend with some of her friends.  (She's growing up too fast!)

It was a home school dance hosted by the Texas Youth and Government, for several hundred high school homeschoolers from the DFW area!

LOVE  LOVE  LOVE  this group of young adults!!!

Most of these kids  have been home schooled from the beginning, knowing each other for years, and they are all in high school now.

My heart swelled last evening when I saw how grown up, kind, caring, and faith-filled they have become!

After meeting up for photos, they were driven to a restaurant and then onto the dance.  (7pm-midnight).

Miss Sally had such an AMAZING time.  We couldn't have asked for a better first experience to a homecoming dance for her!

  1. Oh Patty, Miss Sally looks stunning and so beautiful! Such beautiful girls and handsome gents! So glad she had a wonderful time! I so wish my oldest (age 14) had a good group of girlfriends to hang out with. There is no one her age in our small Catholic homeschool group which breaks my heart. :( I keep praying God will send her the friend(s) she needs. :) Just wanted to let you know I linked up to your blog on my current blog post about Oct. feast days. I linked up when I posted our Guardian Angel art work that you inspired me to do when I saw it on your Facebook page :) Here's the link if you want to check it out: http://asliceofsmithlife.blogspot.com/2014/10/a-slice-of-liturgical-life-celebrating.html

    1. Tracy, I only wish every homeschool family would have the blessing that families in our metroplex experience. We have a huge population and with that come countless blessings for home schoolers. All Catholic homeschoolers in our area know this and are extremely grateful for this blessing. To see these young adults together in this type of setting is medicine for the soul, hope for our future, and encouragement to keep on keeping on with this vocation we, as homeschooling parents, are called to. I pray for all those homeschool families who are not as fortunate. Hugs to your sweet daughter!!

    2. Patty, your daughter is so very beautiful and elegant. I hope they all had a wonderful time! I love how you wrote the Texas song with this post!

Reading Tracy's comment makes me so nervous, because we already have what you have, a big homeschooling group, an awesome one, with kids we've known all 10 years of schooling...scarey to move...taking a leap of faith I guess!

At the same time, you post is also so very encouraging we will find that again.

  4. Again, I just have to say how beautiful and breathtaking she is. The dress, the shoes, everything seems to suit her well. You've done well, mama. You certainly are blessed with being surrounded with a great homeschool group in which your kids can grow and thrive. I always enjoy the photos.

  5. Such a pretty, sweet-looking girl! My senior's homecoming is the coming weekend. I wish his date was as sweet-looking as Sally (she's a nice girl, but doesn't have that sweet, kind look Sally has).
