Master Bath - Putting It Back Together (Part 2)

The bathroom came to a stall when I took my daughter on her 8th grade trip, and the granite company dropped the ball on our vanity top.

So I thought I'd post on what happened since the last update.

* David built and installed the new trim around the doors and floor.

* We made a color change.

I think it looks so much better.  The green seemed so 1990's to us.

New color ::  Kwal paint color #2274 Belvedere

* Glass shower curtain - this was a BIG day!

Our shower has no glass door.  Instead, it is a 5' long walk in.

See that 90 degree angle shower head?  It sprays down, not out.  No water sprays out of the shower!

* Tile change for wall.

To save $500, we scrapped the idea of using the pebble wall tile, and decided to take the floor tile up and cap it with a mosaic tile.

We went from this ::

We used up the remaining floor tile and purchased some glass/stone mosaic wall tile at Lowe's.

Going this route was a HUGE money saver!

*  Towel hooks

We purchased some contemporary ones at Lowe's.

(David installed  2 of these on the back of the door, then put a little silicone around the base to make it a bit stronger since this is a hollow door.)

(That is the toilet paper holder on the side of the vanity.)

Now we wait for the vanity top which is suppose to be installed tomorrow.   Once it is installed, David will be able to hook up the plumbing.

After the vanity, he will make the new mirror and install the light fixture.

We are a.l.m.o.s.t. there.  Maybe one more week??

I think David is doing a REMARKABLE job on this bathroom remodel!!  He truly is talented.  (And tired!  For his sake, I'll be glad for him when it is done.)

  3. 5 foot walk in shower? Sounds like heaven. And no annoying door or tracking to clean? Love it.
    The blue looks fab, as does the rest. Can't wait to see it all come together. Great job there, David.

    1. I know! No more gunk in the tracking!!! It is pretty much maintenance free having no grout or tile in the shower as well. I'm thinking down the road to a more "mature" age some day...

  4. I love the blue too! And we also took the floor tile up part of the wall in our master bath as a kind of tub surround. Love it! Little one splashes and it doesn't bother me a bit.

    1. That's what we were told. So then we thought of putting them on the accent wall where they would not get wet, but gosh! They were expensive, so we ditched the idea altogether.

  7. Love the shower! I am smiling because we have the same set-up in our bathroom now, was done last December. Basically, partof the room behind the doorway is sectioned off with a long glass panel like yours, secured across the wall with a metal pole which braces the panel. No door, just a 5' walk in and rainfall shower head pointing downwards, also just one lever control as you have. It looks so neat and tidy and it really does work as there is no messing with the door and the water stays in as the tray runs away from the open end. The only problem I have is the littlest one wandering into the shower while I am in there! But otherwise so simple for children to use and they like the space and open end as it is less claustrophobic.
    Your whole bathroom looks fab! And your dear husband is so gifted; a pat on the back to him!

  9. I love the tile up the wall. We did that in our kids bath and I'm anxious to do it in our master bath. It makes it so easy to clean -- no baseboards! And I love your blue.
