Great Book for Feast of St. Wenceslaus

Today is the feast day of "Good King Wenceslas".

I found this book on Amazon...

The illustrations are gorgeous and it comes with a CD...narrated by Jane Seymour with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.  BEAUTIFUL!

St. Wenceslaus was such a good and holy man, born in 907 near Prague, son of the Duke of Bohemia.  His grandmother, a faith filled woman, St. Ludmilla raised him since St. Wenceslaus' mother was a pagan.  (Crazy!)  St. Ludmilla was murdered by these haters of Christ, but St. Wenceslaus was able to assume leadership of the Bohemian government.  He was a peacemaker and supported the church.  He was known for his compassion and generosity, especially toward the poor and outcast.  This caused trouble for him from the pagans, including his own brother!  His brother ordered his death, and in 929, St. Wenceslaus was murdered on the way to mass.

St. Wenceslaus is remembered as putting the heavenly kingdom before an earthly one.

He is the patron saint of Bohemian people and the former Czechoslovakia.

St. Wenceslaus, pray for us!

  1. Since we are studying the Middle Ages this year, I saw that he was in our upcoming lessons, but I did not know that today was his feast day. Thanks for the reminder.

Thanks for stopping by!
