Eternal Rest Grant Unto Him, O Lord...

William LaVelle Hughes

September 6, 1930 - April 16, 2014

David's father, Bill, passed away early this evening at the age of 83. Clare, his wife of 59 years, was by his bedside. He fought a long and difficult battle with Alzheimer's. They have six children, 19 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.

Please keep the repose of his soul in your prayers as well as prayers for the family.

Eternal rest, grant unto him O Lord
and let perpetual light shine upon him.
May he rest in peace. Amen.

May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
Amen.

  4. I am sorry for your loss, but am happy that he is with our Lord now. The picture is striking because they both have such warm, loving and wise eyes; the windows to the soul.

  7. Oh Patty, I am so sorry for your loss, and for your husband's and family too. What a beautiful photo you have here, so I can meet your father-in-law. His struggles were many at the end of his life...how perfect that he should go to the Lord in Holy Week.
You will be on my mind and heart in the difficult days ahead. Please know of my prayers too.
    Hugs,
    Ceil

  8. Patty,

I am so sorry to hear your sad news. I know that your heart is breaking and you have to be there in so many ways for your kids, for your grieving husband, everyone. I'll be praying for you and your family as you walk this journey together. God bless, tara

  9. Patty and family--add me to the long list of people who are offering condolences and prayers. My grandfather died with dementia, and while it was difficult to deal with him those last years, it was even more hard to lose him when he died. Many thoughts and prayers your way as you travel to the funeral. --Becky

  10. Patty, I am so very sorry for you loss. I was praying for you and your sweet family today and thought of you again this morning when I heard the song 'blessings' by laura story. Do you know that song? It made me think of you today. I'll be praying for your trip to see family and for your journey of grief that is oh so hard. In prayer, tara
