Yellow Belts

These two girls earned their yellow belts at the beginning of January!

They started taking Tae Kwon Do this past fall  and really and truly enjoy it.

I found a program that is offered at the Community Center...$8 per hour....per student.  What an inexpensive way to "try out" a new activity.

Stan the man took a couple of classes with them, but he really didn't like it.  (I think someday he may.)

They love it and go together every Monday night...a win-win for David and I.

Mabel received an ornament in her Christmas stocking that had a picture of a girl with pony tail doing a particular kick.  The caption read::  Don't be fooled by the pony tail!

There's something to say about a young lady knowing Tae Kwon Do, don't you think?

A force to be reckoned with, perhaps. :)

So the weekend is here, and I am so bummed.  Downton Abbey is finished for the season and what a terrible way it ended!!  I bummed about the ending, and depressed because my favorite weekly hour is void.

Any recommendations?  No heavy reading for me at this chapter in my life.  I need to keep things lite.

Happy Friday!

  1. Great job girls!! That is awesome that they are enjoying it so much. I love that ornament. :) I have been looking at martial arts classes for my boys- not sure yet that they will love them, but it seems like good exercise. I'll have to check our community center. Those prices are good.

  2. Great job ladies!! My kiddos were in Tae Kwon Do and made it to purple belts...then Simeon was born and we stopped for the next 10 months and they had to start all over at a new place....Nicholas, my oldest just quit, he is not very competitive and just isn't very motivated to start over and work his way up again. My 6 year old tried it and liked it til she also didn't want to go anymore, her reason? "my body hurts"

Netflix has lots of suggestions, if you do them....for different movies or shows. I've watched Once Upon a Time through them...it's on Sunday nights too....the season now...I think you can catch up through Netflix. Kind of a fun show to watch. (a twist on fairy tales)

    1. Thanks! I'll check that one out. David likes Foyle's War (murder mysteries in England during WWII). I've watched it with him and it is really good. I just like more than a good murder mystery once in awhile :)

  3. Great job to your young ladies! This Army gal wishes the "force be with them:)" My youngers will be giving Kajukenbo a try this summer. They are looking forward to it:) Sorry I'm no help on the lite reading...Somehow I always end up with the heavy stuff! And I'm really boring as I watch NO TV shows. My husband wants me to watch a new combat medic with him (that just started) so I just might check that out? I'm looking forward to following EWTN and the Conclave tho! Have a blessed weekend!

  7. Congrats to the girls! We also did TKD in Scotland...they had a wonderful program for littles. We haven't found another like since (frankly, I didn't look here yet, but I think we are okay with our level of extracurriculars at the moment). As for DA....so sad! I spent that whole last episode waiting for the shoe to drop and praying they wouldn't kill off Mary in child birth, but I started to get the idea it was going to be him.
In the meantime we have some favorites on Netflix. More action packed than DA, but fun just the same. White Collar is a fun one. We also enjoy Burn Notice--more explosions and killing of bad guys, but not to graphic. Again, they are not chick flicks, but some satisfying character lines etc.

    1. Thanks, Carol. I will check those suggestions out as well. Have you seen Foyle's War? It's a good murder mystery based in England during WWII. I bet your hubs would like it. I like it, but needed something more chick-like every now and then :)

  9. Friday night means watching "Blue Bloods" on the couch with my hubby at 9 pm Central. He's traveling for work, so I hope he makes it home in time for our date! It's the only show I watch on tv that has commercials...I'm so spoiled by Netflix and dvr! You should check it out. It's about a Catholic family who is all in law enforcement in NY...give it a try and let me know if you like it.

    1. I'll have to see if Blue Bloods is on Netflix instant yet. We just got rid of cable. David put an HDTV antennae up in the attic. We get 30 (non-cable) channels, about 12 of them are Spanish speaking though! LOL
