Fill 'er up!

August.

Hello?  Where have I been?

When I was a child, it seemed to pass so slowly.  Almost painfully.

Hope you are all getting your fill of summer fun.

*********************************************************

Things for my tribe came to a snail's pace when we found that unexpected joy had been added to our list.  No big complaints from the kiddos though.

*****************************************************

The heat.  (Sigh....)

It is actually very normal for this time of year, but it came at least six weeks earlier than normal.  It has been here entirely too long now.

Check it out...these Texans baked cookies in their car!

***********************************************************

We did get some fishing time in with Dad earlier in the summer.

Mabel is holding David's sling shot & spear.  Your sons would go ga-ga over that fishing gear.  Quite the craze in TX.  No, Mabel didn't shoot with it.  She used a regular fishing pole.

*************************************************************

Ester and David spent an afternoon at Adventure Landing/ Dallas.  An over-due daddy/daughter date.

They went go cart racing...

...played a round of putt-putt Golf...

...and tried their hand at laser tag...

(You think the heat was finally getting to her?)

My favorite part of their date?  They picked up this picture souvenir...

I thought it was so sweet!

All that for $13 per person.  I thought that was a pretty good deal.

*********************************************

Late night walks...when it is down to 98 degrees

...in our jammies

...listening to the crickets

...cooling ourselves in the sprinkler systems

...hearing the sound of a.c.'s humming away

....counting the planes in the far distance as they line up for their landing formation (imagining where the people are coming from.)

***********************************************

Taking an evening swim at the subdivision pool.  (About four blocks from our house.)  Picking up a friend along the way...

Down here, the pool is packed in the late evening hours.  No one wants to go during the afternoon.  Pretty sad when it is too miserable to swim.

Keeping it real here, note Stan's hand position in this next photo...

No.  He isn't dancing the Cha-cha-cha.

I swear the boy is always pickin' away.... I'm rolling my eyes and shaking my head as I type this.

BTW, we do use wipes after the dirty deed!

*****************************************

Eating lots of popsicles.  And enjoying the jokes that come printed on the sticks.

I.E.  What is a pig's favorite karate move?  *********  The pork chop!  (LOL)

*****************************************

Go!  Go and have your summer fun.  It is quickly coming to an end I'm afraid.

  2. I have one that is always picking too! Except it's b/c she usually has her underwear on backwards. Maybe they really are meant for each other!! How long does your pool stay open? Ours will close on Labor Day, I would assume yours stays open later than that. You can head to the pool when the other kids are back in school!

  3. Praise God it stays open through Sept. Sometimes until mid-October.

Mabel will be having a swimming party after the regular school kids head back. We will have the pool to ourselves that day!

  6. Glad to see that you're making the most of August. You're right about August taking forever as a child and it being gone in a snap as an adult. How does that happen?

    As usual, great photos! :-)
