Hitting the Books

My happy campers on the first day of school...

Putting up a brave front...

It really wasn't awful.  Mabel said she liked it this much....using her thumb and index finger to measure about one inch.

*************************************************

We called this week 1A - working on half of the subjects.  Next week is 1B - we will do the other half.  After that we will go full time.

I have always started early and then I enjoy 2 weeks off at the end of each quarter.  I'm telling you, it is a break that I REALLY need!

**********************************************

I also picked up these two new faith books for the month of July...

A Peek Into My Church, written by Wendy Goody and Veronica Kelly - for Ordinary Time during the Church calendar year.

The Legend of Saint Christopher, written by Margaret Hodges - Feast day:  July 25.

Found all of these in Catholic Mosaic, written by Cay Gibson.

Oh, we still are enjoying our summer.  We've been checking off our bucket list and I'll write about that another time.

Wishing you all the best in this upcoming school year no matter where you go to school!!!

  1. A Peek into My Church is a great book, I haven't heard of that St. Christopher book, but it looks interesting. I like your idea of starting out slow, we will do something similar next week!

  2. we love Margaret Hodges. We'll have to look for St. Christopher book. The other one looks interesting. good for you all, starting a little early so the pace isn't so rush rush all at once. I was especiallly interested in your cirricula for Stan. :)

  4. At least you can make some of that indoor "hide from the heat time" productive! Even though we school year 'round, I am not ready to think *real* school. I love the relaxed approach to our summer school- I don't feel the same pressure that I feel during the official school year.

We also take a soft start to our school year. I actually begin one subject at a time. It takes a few weeks to get up to speed.
