White-as-snow Soul

Our Holy Triduum began with Mabel receiving her first Sacrament of Reconciliation on Holy Thursday, after Mass.  We could not have been happier for her!

It was such a beautiful moment and I'm sure she did a great job.

I love the way Seton explains this sacrament to the little ones in their religion books.  I hope you don't mind, but I wanted to share it with you.

Just a summarization....

The soul was born with original sin.  Baptism washed away that sin away but left our souls weak.  Because our souls are weak, we tend to sin again.

God knew that this would happen.  So Jesus gave us this special sacrament (an outward sign, started by Christ, to bring us Grace).  Our sins that we commit after baptism are washed away and we receive grace in its place.  Grace is like spiritual food for our soul.  It makes us strong, holy, and pleasing to God once more.

Would you starve your body?  No.  Of course not!    So we mustn't starve our souls.  This grace, this spiritual food, helps us to stay strong and fight away the devil and the sin he wants us to commit.

So pure and easy to understand.
