Wrapping Up Our Week 1/14/11

~On My Mind~

*Still feeling the joy from last weekend!

~From the administration office~

*Trying a new schedule out.  Starting school an hour earlier, slipping in a 45-60 min. break, finishing with the second session of school by 12-12:30pm for the day.  So far, so good.

House chores are already a big enough pain and when I am constantly trying to fit them in between helping each "student", I feel like I'm running around with my head cut off.

Starting earlier and having less of a mid-day break has allowed me to "check out of the office" earlier.

An added bonus: kids are more tired and go to bed earlier as well.  Me likey!

Reading:

Stan has started this book for third quarter-

I had purchased it from here.  He really enjoys this series.  Cutting and pasting things is his favorite.

Last month, I had purchased The Wind Blows Free for Sally as a reward for finishing up her required second quarter book report.  She loved! loved! loved! her book and looks forward to the next in the Panhandle Series.

For third quarter, she is required to read and write a report on Mother Cabrini: Missionary to the World

Also last month, I had purchased Happy Little Family for Ester as her reward.  It is rare that this child loves books and she absolutely loved this one.

She has, (for the first time), been inspired enough to read ahead and finish her book, Patron Saint of First Communicants: The Story of Blessed Imelda Lambertini.

Since Happy Little Family is part of a series, Ester looks forward to receiving the next book.

Myself.  I just received this in the mail-

Since it came only yesterday, I just had a chance to delve into last night.

I am desiring to see more of Christ present in those around me, mainly my dear husband and children, and to pay closer attention to them, at the same time, adjusting the household needs to fit my family's schedule.

We also rotated the book bins once again.  I find that the younger two are the ones who really enjoy this the most~

Hope you already witnessed success in your new semester!

  1. Thanks for linking up this week! Funny, I just saw this book on Amazon the other day ~ I will be really curious to see how you like it! Glad your new schedule is working well. It's nice to have the afternoon "free" so to speak. Have a great weekend!

  3. Oh! I read the Panhandle series when I was a kid. I'll have to hunt down some copies for my bookworm! Thanks for the link in case our library doesn't have them. :)

  4. We are working on tweaking our schedule as well. I am also hoping for an earlier start to our day. I am interested to hear what you think of your new book. I have not seen it before, but am always looking for some new inspiration.

  5. We rotate our books, too, and the boys love it. They usually do the rotating themselves and they engage much more in the books we have upstairs.

  6. I like the new schedule idea. It's so nice to be able to focus strictly on school during school time, yet, still have time to do our "Mommy" things without being overwhelmed.
